Until 2014, I have used templates within Serif Page Plus (any other desk top publisher with DVD templates will do) to generate label images. These were then printed onto self adhesive circular labels that could peeled off and stuck to the DVD. A slightly clumsy process
Luckily, modern printers such as my latest Epson have the facility to print direct onto DVD surfaces, provided that you buy printable DVD stock. [Be sure to buy the right DVD stock. Some advice is available here]
An example from the Epson label software is shown on the right. Check the capability of your printer, and, if available for your printer, download the label editing software.
